Women’s March Michigan 2018 FAQ

Where & When: This event takes place outside, on the grounds of the state capitol on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2pm.

The rally will begin promptly at 2PM with performers and speakers. It will last a little over two hours.

Are we marching? We will be symbolically marching from all corners of Michigan to rally at the steps of the state Capitol.

Why is it on the 21st? It was on the 21st last year. It is also on the same day National is holding their event.

Be prepared: This event takes place outside. Please dress for snow and/or rain and wear a good pair of shoes or boots. Be prepared to stand for long periods. You are welcome to bring your own lawn chair, umbrella, snacks, and water.

Are men invited?  Absolutely! This is an inclusive march.

Can I bring my children? Children are welcome to come, but keep in mind that we expect a large crowd.

Seating: We have a limited number of chairs for those with limited mobility and for people that need to be able to see the ASL interpreters on stage. There will be space for wheelchairs in front of these seats. These seats are first come first serve for those who need them. You are welcome to bring your own lawn chair to set up behind the reserved seating.

Will there be sign language interpreters? Yes, we will have an ASL interpreter during the rally.

Can I bring a sign? Yes! We believe the best signs are the ones that address the issues. To see our platform and view the Women’s March National Unity Principles, please visit: https://womensmarchmichigan.org/what-we-stand-for/.

If you go inside the capitol building, your sign must be left outside.  The capitol does not allow signs to be posted on walls, trees, poles, or statues, nor will they allow signs staked into the ground.  Please try to avoid long, heavy poles and long sticks.

Will there be medical professionals? EMS will be there to handle any medical emergencies.

Restrooms: We will have portable restrooms, including ADA compliant ones.

The four parking structures around Lansing have a $7 flat rate.

BUSES: You may drop off attendees on the Ottawa Street side of the capitol. Buses can park at the Michigan Historical Center (717 Allegan Street) for $1.00 an hour. If parking arm is up- parking is free for the day! If when exiting parking arm is down- Use Silver Speaker call button to exit free!Parking is first come, first serve. Buses can pick up on Allegan St.

Public transportation is available; it’s called CATA in Lansing. Route 1 goes from Meridian Mall in Okemos through the MSU campus to the capitol building and back. We are in the process of working with them to provide more buses. For more information, please go here: https://cata.org

What experience does Rally have of providing transportation to large political marches? On January 21, 2017, Rally mobilized nearly 50,000 people to the Women’s March. No one has more experience providing transport to events than Rally.

Is Rally an official partner of Women’s March Michigan? No, Women’s March Michigan does not officially endorse any company, including Rally.

Is Women’s March Michigan responsible for cancelled buses, no shows, lost or stolen items? 
They are not responsible for any cancelled buses, no shows and stolen items from any buses organized with Rally bus.

Is Rally a political organization? No, Rally Bus provides transportation for individuals and groups going to thousands of events every year. Rally’s mission has always been to bring people and communities together, so we are personally thrilled to be able to help provide transportation to the Women’s March Michigan. While each of us on the team have personal political views, we do not believe private companies are people so Rally does not have a political agenda.
